From converted US Navy fighters to alien shuttles, it's all here!
The Grumman F-14 Tomcat, multi-role fighter aircraft of the United States Navy. Years in service: 1974-2006
The McDonnell Douglas F/A-18 Hornet is a carrier-capable multirole combat aircfraft, designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft (F/A designation for Fighter/Attack). Designed by McDonnell Douglas and Northrop, the F/A-18 was designed in the 1970s for use by the United States Navy and Marine Corps. The U.S. Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, has used the Hornet since 1986.
Reader's Notes: It is unknown which model of F/A-18 has been used for deployment to Llapaaloapalla. Most references just have "Hornet", however some time later in the book Todd mentions "F/A-18E", which is actually a designation for a single-seat "Super Hornet".
